Lethego, FNBB and BIHL were the most actively traded names. Letshego closed unchanged after the counter traded a total of 5.7m shares.
Current sentiments continued in the market as foreigners accounted for 83.7% of activity. Safaricom reached a 4 week low of KES16.10 after the counter lost 3.3% on the back of foreign selling. Other notable losers included KCB (-0.9%, KES57.50), EABL (-1.3%, KES306) and ARM (-0.6%, KES77.50). BAT and Scangroup closed firm at KES773 (+3.5%) and KES42.25 (1.8%) respectively.
Turnover was mainly geared towards PBL (+3.3%, Rs310), NMH (+4.1%, Rs63) and SBM (3.2%, Rs0.96). SBM remains the most actively traded name on the bourse as the counter traded a total of 11.4m shares. MCB had a slow day as the counter traded a total of 39k shares to close unchanged at Rs203.
The index closed off strong today due to price gains in Banking stocks Zenith Bank (+2.48%, N21.50), ETI (+2.33%, N21.50), GTB (+1.99%, N29.70), Diamond Bank (+1.11%, N4.55) and UBA (+0.39%, N5.15) The banking index was up 1.26%. The Consumer index closed up 0.30% on the back of gains in Guinness (+3.23%, N160) and 7up (+5%, N170.10). Top value trades included FBN ($3.3m), UBA ($2.6m) and GTB ($1.1m).

Delta (unch, 105c), Econet (+0.07%, 46.03c) and Innscor (unch, 60c) were the most actively traded names in the session. The counters traded a total of 333k, 869k and 701k shares respectively. Overall gain in the index was due to increase demand.
