Another slow day on the bourse.
The market continued its slow run as Safaricom and EABL accounted for the bulk of activity (54.5%). The counters closed firm at KES16.60 (+0.6%) and KES305 (0.3%) after trading a total of 10.6m and 550k shares respectively. Other gainers included KCB (+1.7%, KES59) and Stanchart (+4.6%, KES319) whilst BAT and Co-op Bank closed unchanged at KES772 and KES22 respectively.
SBM continues to be the most actively traded counter on the bourse. The name closed unchanged at Rs0.95 after trading a total of 4.6m shares. MCBG retreated 0.6% to close at Rs205 after trading 19.7k shares. CEIL was the second highest traded name in the session as the counter traded a total of 2.2m shares to closed flat at Rs6.94.
A better day from a turnover point of view. Gains in ETI (+1.85%, N22), Access Bank (+1.11%, N6.35) and Skye Bank (+9.66%, N2.61) pushed the Banking index 0.07% higher. The Consumer index depreciated by 0.60% due to losses in sector heavies Unilever (-0.13%, N41.57) and NB (-1.90%, N154). Top value trades included GTB ($3.3m), UBA ($1.3m) and Zenith Bank ($3.1m), Intbrew ($1.2m) and NB ($1.7m). Overall most counters traded low volumes as NB, Intbrew, Zenith Bank and Presco were the only names to register significant crosses.

Paltry trades across the board as Afdis (unch, 50c), Mash (unch, 3c) and Old Mutual (0.40%, 251c) were the significant contributors. Econet and Delta traded a total of 52k and 8.5k shares to close at 50c and 105c respectively.
