Another lukewarm session on the Kenyan bourse as foreigners accounted for 66.1% of the selling activity. Top movers Safaricom (-0.6%, KES16.20), NMG (-3.3%, N205), Equity Bank (-1.6%, KES46.75), KCB (-0.8%, KES59.50) and Britam (-2.3%, KES21.50) all closed soft on the back of foreign selling whilst EABL weathered the storm to close up 0.3% at KES301.
MCB and SBM closed the week unchanged at Rs205 and Rs0.95 after trading a total of 43.6k and 403.8k shares respectively. CIEL continued its rise to close up by 5.7% at Rs7.40 as 18.8k shares were exchanged in the name.
An uneventful week has finally come to a close as the bourse continues its downward trend. The Banking index retreated 0.54% as all tier 1 banking names closed the week in the red- ETI was the exception to close unchanged at N21.70. Large cap consumers Guinness and NB closed soft after shedding 1.47% and 0.45% to settle at N155.72 and N153.28 respectively- Consumer index lost 0.50%.
