Movers & Shakers: May 27, 2015

Botswana: DCI +0.01%, USD 616k

Turnover was somewhat reduced in the absence of the recent bookovers although still a healthy $616k. However, the only real activity took place in the normally very illiquid Shumba (140t).

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.36%, USD 15.5m

Another really active day in Nairobi with foreign investors heavily dominant on both sides. The most active stock was Safcom which saw almost $10m change hands with most of this crossing at KES15.20. After a couple of difficult days the buyers finally came in to buy the telco. EqBnk was also active and saw some chunky crossing go through at KES47.75. Similarly, EABL saw some good size trades go through at the KES300 level.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.25%, USD 2.8m

Some action once again in SBMH (-1.1%, Rs0.93) while there was some decent action in the normally illiquid Ciel (-1.1%, Rs7.30). MCBG fell marginally to Rs203.757 as general softness permeated throughout the bourse.

Nigeria: ASI +0.17%, USD 18.7m

Turnover improved although it still remains below average and the odd cross really spikes volumes. Banks closed marginally in the red although there is no discernible trend in the sector. The only real volume was seen in GTB (+34bps, N29.10). The consumers fell by 24bps mostly on the back of Nestle giving up some of yesterday's gain (-1.26%, N860.00). Nestle saw some decent crossing action while NB closed unchanged at N152.00. There was also some decent activity in Dangcem (+56bps, N180.00).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.07%, USD 627k

Not much on the go in Harare as turnover amounted to $627k with Delta accounting for $594k of total turnover while the Industrial Index fell -0.07%.
