Another distinctly average day in Nairobi with some action in EABL driving proceedings. The brewer closed -0.4% lower on the back of foreign selling with 484k shares changing hands. Both Safcom (+1.2%) and EQBNK (+1.6%) managed to close the day in positive territory on the back of foreign demand.
A very dull day in Port Louis although the index continued to trek north. Both banks had another positive day with MCBG rising by 10bps to Rs214.50 while SBMH closed 30bps up at Rs6.90.
Activity continues to underwhelm in Lagos with not a single name being able to break the $1m turnover mark yet again. Banking stocks closed the day lower with the sector falling -1.23% thanks to GTB (-1.83%) and Zenith (-1.39%). Consumers were also weaker on tiny volume with the sector closing -0.95% lower.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The index ticked up yet again although volumes were rather thin today. Econet (27.5c) was the most active stock.
