Another average day in Nairobi as Safcom (-0.3%) once again dominated proceedings and accounted for more than half of total market turnover. Both major banking stocks KNCB and EQBNK closed the day unchanged on low volume while EABL was dead quiet.
The Mauritian bourse ticked marginally lower again today on turnover of $1.4m. Activity was mixed on the Sem-10 board with red numbers for MCBG (-10bps, Rs214.25) and Alteo (-2.1%, Rs27.50). SBMH closed up 60bps at Rs6.94.
Groundhog day in Lagos with not a single name breaking the $1m mark with crosses in NB ($924k), Nestle ($864k) and Unilever ($517k) the only names with any semblance of activity. Banking stocks closed +0.05% higher on tiny volume while consumers (-0.02%) closed marginally lower. On the economic front, the MPC kept the MPR at 14% as expected.
