The two names driving the Gaborone bourse today being FNBB ($1.4m) and Letshego ($988k), 59% and 39% respectively of total market turnover.
Nairobi stock exchange starting to pick up once again today split between a number of different counters with a few of these names seeing some solid crosses. The major movers and shakers today being Safaricom (unch, KES26.00) and EABL (-0.80%, KES247.00) combined being more than half the total market turnover and Equity (-0.64%, KES39.00) the only names to breach the $1m mark. Foreign participation continuing the upward trend to 86% on the sell side and 37% on the buy side of total the market.
A solid day in Port Louis today with GreenBay Properties, MCBG and SBMH driving proceedings and accounting for 82% of total market turnover.
At the close of trading today, bearish sentiments prevailed in the Nigerian equities market as the NSE ASI sheds 75bps to settled at 35,397.52 points. The banking Index closed in negative territory (-0.58%) also seeing the consumer sector and the industrial sector shed (-2.18%) and (-1.86%) respectively. The losses recorded in Skye Bank (-3.51%, N0.55), Fidelity Bank (-1.52%, N1.30), UBN (-1.32%, N6.00) and GTB (-0.74%, N37.52) depressed the banking sector index. The losses recorded in Flourmill (-5.00%, N27.55), Nestle (-4.94%, N1,150.20), NB (-2.41%, N180.05) and Vitafoam (-1.85%, N2.65) depressed the consumer sector index. A few notable trades on the day were the transactions executed in GTB ($5.2m, N1.8bn), NB ($2.7m, N987m), ZB ($2.5m, N900m), NESTLE: ($993k, N357m) and WAPCO ($621k, N223m).

An absolutely dire day in Dar. Twiga Cement declared an Interim dividend of Tzs. 120 per share which will be paid on or about 31 October 2017. The Register of the members will close on 25 September 2017 and the last day of trading cum dividend will be 20 September 2017.
The market’s rally continued in Harare today held up by Old Mutual (10%), Innscor (20%) and Afdis (19%). Econet (-7.8%) and Delta (+7.97%) accounted for 76% of turnover.
