Another relatively uneventful day in Gaborone as almost all the action took place in Letshego which closed lower at 197t.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.09%, USD 1.96m

The market remains bearish with foreigners accounting for 50% of total sales. Safaricom (-3.96%, KES24.25), KCB (-0.60%, KES41.75) and CO-OP (unch, KES16.60) accounting for 74% of total market turnover seeing the bourse decline by 84.8% from the previous trading day. The rest of the counters were extremely quiet.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.03%, USD 1.76m

Total market turnover in Port Louis amounted to Rs58.9m skewed by a handful of tickers as SBM (unch,Rs7.76) and LUX (unch, Rs58.25) accounting for more than 58% of the market. We saw some decent volume in MCB (+0.6%, Rs275.00), IBL (unch, Rs45.00) and Terra (-1.3%, Rs30.00).

Nigeria: ASI -0.38%, USD 4.27m

At the close of trading today, bearish sentiments prevailed in the Nigerian equities market as the NSE ASI began the week with a 38pbs loss to settle at 34.87m points. The banking Index closed in positive territory (+0.88%), while the consumer sector and the industrial sector shed (-1.17%) and (-0.77%) respectively. The gains posted by GTB (+2.70%, N38.00), Skye Bank (+1.92%, N0.53), ETI (+1.12%, N18.00) and Sterling Bank (+0.98%, N1.03) sustained the sector. The losses recorded in NB (-2.86%, N170.00), Dangflour (-1.55%, N6.35) and Champion (-1.21%, N2.44) depressed the consumer index. Notable trades on the day were the transactions executed in ACCESS ($984k, N9.73), Zenith ($497k, N22.01) and WAPCO ($308k, N49.00).

The ZSE finally showed some signs of softening after the strong recent rally while volumes remain decent. Today we saw action dominated by Padenga ($2.05m), Simbisa ($1.52m), Delta ($728k) and OK Zim ($639k).
