Some small activity in Sefalana (135k shares) the only name worth mentioning on a slow start to the week in Gaborone.
A relatively decent start to the week in Nairobi from an activity point of view, but this should however be taken with a pinch of salt as Safcom completely dominated proceedings. Foreign demand drove the telco +1.8% higher as 17.3m shares changed hands in the name. EQBNK came under a bit of pressure, closing the day -1.3% lower on foreign selling as 3.3m shares traded while the rest of the market heavyweights were extremely quiet yet again.
Once again activity in the banks dominated the bourse. MCBG gained 20bps to Rs208.00 while SBMH rose by a further 2.9% to Rs0.71.
A better start to the week from what we have become accustomed to of late in Lagos with a few decent crosses in DangCem ($5m), GTB ($4.2m) and UBA ($1.5m) driving proceedings, while the rest of the market remains woefully quiet. Banking stocks closed the day slightly lower with the sector falling -0.11% as Zenith (-1.18%) was the major drag on the sector. Consumers (-1.86%) closed the day in negative territory on rather dire volume while market heavyweight DangCem closed the day unchanged.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another dull start to the week in Harare with a tiny bit of activity in FBC ($92k) and Delta ($67k).
