Nothing to report from Gaborone.
An extremely active day in Nairobi to start the week thanks mostly to Safcom (+1.8%) as 46.3m shares changed hands in the telco thanks to a few large foreign crosses in the name. The two major banking stocks KNCB (-9.3%) and EQBNK (-9.3%) continue to take some serious strain, but we did see some appetite return at these lower levels with 18.7m shares and 16.2m shares traded in the names respectively. It must however be said that both names were net offered at the close. It will be interesting to see if the buyers from today were just opportunistic buyers or if there will be some genuine interest in the names. Nothing on the go in EABL as 13k shares traded in the brewer.
A rather average day in Port Louis from an activity point of view with MCBG once again the only name worth mentioning as 132k shares changed hands in the heavyweight.
A completely woeful day to start the week in Lagos with turnover amounting to a paltry $2.2m after the start of the session was delayed due to technical issues. Both banks (-0.54%) and consumers (-0.43%) ended the session lower, but there are no names worth mentioning with volumes being so dire.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Much of the same in Harare from an activity point of view as the lack of interest continues.
