A very impressive day (relatively speaking) from an activity point of view thanks to a few large crosses in Letshego as 10.9m shares traded with the counter closing at 180t while the rest of the market remains dead quiet.
Another decent day in Nairboi thanks once again to Safcom and KNCB as 19.5m shares and 11.7m shares changed hands in the names respectively, with foreigners dominating purchases while locals were the bulk of the sellers in the counters. There was not much on the go in the other market heavyweights unfortunately with 1.4m EQBNK changing hands while 52k EABL traded.
A very solid day from an activity point of view in Port Louis thanks mostly to some action in SBMH as 62.6m shares changed hands in the name while there was also some activity in MCBG as 75k shares traded.
A better day in Lagos, but activity remains well below hisorical norms with some crosses in GTB ($2.8m), NB ($2.5m), UBA ($1.5m) and WAPCO ($1m) driving proceedings. Banking stocks closed slightly lower with the sector closing -0.07% in the red thanks to GTB (-1.20%). Consumers (-0.20) also closed lower with Guinness (-3.75%) dragging the sector lower. The Naira continues to struggle with the local unit trading at 347.25 to the USD at the time of writing.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
