An absolutely dreadful day in Gaborone.
A decent day in Nairobi from an activity point of view thanks once again to some action in Safcom (+1.3%) and EQBNK (+1.3%) as 13m shares and 6.7m shares changed hands in the names respectively with foreign demand driving both counters higher. There was some decent activity in KNRE as the name closed -1.0% lower on local selling pressure as 8.2m shares traded. Unfortunately the rest of the market remains very quiet.
A relatively decent day from an activity point of view in Port Louis thanks once again to MCBG as 108k shares changed hands in the name while there was also a small bit of activity in SBMH as 6.7m shares traded.
It was another woeful day in Lagos in terms of turnover with a late cross in GTB ($3.1m) saving face (ever so slightly) for the market while there were no other names that broke the $1m turnover mark. Banking stocks came under pressure with the sector closing -1.04% lower with UBA (-4.82%) being a major drag on the sector. Consumers (-0.23%) also closed the day in negative territory with NB (-0.44%) closing the day lower.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some small activity in Delta ($78k) and Barlcays ($75k) on another quiet day in Harare.
