Another non-event in Gaborone.
The day never got going by any stretch of the imagination today in Kenya as foreign investors were generally uninvolved. As an indication, the most active stock was Centum which closed up 90bps at KES108.00. There was some mild activity in Safcom with the telco finally showing some weakness (-3%, KES19.65) as the aggressive foreign buyers in recent weeks stepped away. KNCB (unch, KES31.50) announced 2016 H1 results in the morning.
A rather uneventful day in Port Louis as less than $1m changed hands. For a change the top traded stock was not one of the banks with Alteo (+1.6%, Rs32.00) topping the charts although both MCBG (+10bps, Rs208.75) and SBMH (+1.5%, Rs0.69) closed the day in the green.
Another eerily dull day in Nigeria with a complete lack of interest across the board. Banks fell by another 58bps today with only GTB (-75bps, N23.88) displaying even a modicum of activity. Consumers did actually increase by 78bps although the sector was dead.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing of note in Zimbabwe today.
