Movers & Shakers: March 07, 2017

Botswana: DCI -0.05% USD 3.4m

There was finally some action in Gaborone thanks to a few crosses in Choppies as 10m shares changed hands in the name while there was also a small bit of activity in BIHL.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.02%, USD 3.2m

Another extremely dull and uneventful day in Kenya. There honestly was nothing worth writing home about with the main action taking place in KNCB (unch, KES26.00), Safcom (-89bps, KES16.65) and EABL (-46bps, KES215.00). There was nothing else worth noting.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.01%, USD 590k

A slow day in Port Louis with some small activity in MCBG, Ciel and LUX, but nothing worth writing home about.

Nigeria: ASI +2.23%, USD 8.2m

Some action trying to return to the Nigerian bourse although turnover remains well below historical norms. As has been the case in recent sessions, Zenith Bank witnessed a number of chunky crosses with local buyers the main driver – the bank closed up 1.31% at N14.69. GTB also saw some late crossing and closed at N25.95 (+3.80%). The banking sector as a whole closed up 1.82%. The consumers were also strong with the sector gaining 1.46%. The activity in the sector were dominated by NB (+2.38%, N133.15) and Guinness (+4.97%, N64.40).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.48%, USD 908k

A better day in Harare thanks to some action in Delta ($840k) while the rest of the market remains quiet.
