A large cross in Letshego (206t) accounted for almost 100% of the turnover in Gaborone.
A dull day on the NSE today thanks to foreign investors being largely absent. For a change there wasn’t much Safcom trading and Equity Bank (unch, KES29.50) assumed the mantle of the market active stock. There was also some activity in KNCB (+79bps, KES31.75) while the rest of the market was dead.
About 57% of the total turnover was driven by 1 large cross in NMH (-20bps, Rs20.95). This cross was done by a local buyer but foreign seller. The rest of the market was extremely quiet.
The ASI remains seriously unattractive to foreign participants and the lack of volumes continues. Banks fell by 1.96% with all Tier 1 names closing in the red. Activity was led by UBA which fell by 2.93% to N5.31. The Consumers dropped by 14bps with only NB (unch, N130.00) seeing any modicum of trading. There was also 1 cross in Dangcem at N165.00 (unch). In economic news, the MPC announced an unchanged MPR of 14% (as expected).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The bulk of today’s activity went through in Delta with the brewer trading at 86c. There was also some action in Econet at the 15c level.
