Botswana: DCI -0.02%, USD 2.7m

A large cross in Letshego (206t) accounted for almost 100% of the turnover in Gaborone.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.58%, USD 4.48m

A dull day on the NSE today thanks to foreign investors being largely absent. For a change there wasn’t much Safcom trading and Equity Bank (unch, KES29.50) assumed the mantle of the market active stock. There was also some activity in KNCB (+79bps, KES31.75) while the rest of the market was dead.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.10%, USD 1.64m

About 57% of the total turnover was driven by 1 large cross in NMH (-20bps, Rs20.95). This cross was done by a local buyer but foreign seller. The rest of the market was extremely quiet.

Nigeria: ASI -0.44%, USD 4.7m

The ASI remains seriously unattractive to foreign participants and the lack of volumes continues. Banks fell by 1.96% with all Tier 1 names closing in the red. Activity was led by UBA which fell by 2.93% to N5.31. The Consumers dropped by 14bps with only NB (unch, N130.00) seeing any modicum of trading. There was also 1 cross in Dangcem at N165.00 (unch). In economic news, the MPC announced an unchanged MPR of 14% (as expected).

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.02%, USD 1.1m

The bulk of today’s activity went through in Delta with the brewer trading at 86c. There was also some action in Econet at the 15c level.
