Things slowed down in Gaborone today with a cross in Letshego the only name worth mentioning as 4m shares changed hands.
Much of the same in Nairobi on the activity front as investors remain on the sidelines with the usual suspect Safcom ($2.2m) dominating proceedings as the telco continues to come under pressure, closing the day -2.7% lower. The two major banking stocks closed the day firmly higher with KNCB gaining +3.8% and EQBNK closing +2.0% higher, albeit on tiny volume.
Some action today in Mauritius thanks to the banks with both MCBG (Rs226.50) and SBMH (Rs7.02) closing unchanged.
Activity continued to improve in Lagos thanks to crosses in Guinness ($2m), NB ($1.7m), Stanbic ($1.6m), Seplat ($1.6m) and Zenith ($1.1m). It was pleasing to see that activity was spread across a few stocks in todays session, as apposed to the usual one or two names. Banking stocks closed the day slightly lower with the sector falling -0.12% with Stanbic (-1.28%) and Zenith (-0.68%) being the major drags. Consumers (+3.01%) had a solid day thanks to great performances in NB (+4.99%) and Guinness (+3.94%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The ZSE bounced a bit higher today although volumes remain subdued. Most of the outperformance was thanks to Econet which rose to 15c albeit on tiny volumes.
