Another impressive day in Gaborone on the activity front thanks to some action int BTCL (5.3m shares), BIHL (128k shares) and Letshego (1m shares).
Another pedestrian day in Nairobi with the usual suspect Safcom ($2m) the most active counter on the day with the telco closing unchanged at KES 18.10. Elsewhere, there was some small activity in EQBNK ($810k) and KNCB ($640k) with nothing else worth reporting on.
MCBG accounted for 60% of today’s turnover as the banking group remains unchanged at Rs225.00. SBMH also ended the day unchanged at Rs7.00 on reasonable volumes. There was nothing else happening on the bourse.
A better day in Lagos, but still nothing to write home about with the likes of GTB ($2.4m), Nestle ($1.8m) and UBA ($1m) driving proceedings. Banking stocks closed the day -0.20% lower with some weakness in GTB (-1.08%) dragging the sector lower. Consumers (-0.61%) also closed lower thanks to Nestle (-1.33%). Lafarge released FY 2016 numbers wich saw PAT fall -37.8% to N16.89bn.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A chunky cross in Econet at 15c was the major talking point today. The rest of the market was uneventful.
