Another rather average day in Gaborone with some small activity in Turnstar and Letlole.
A sub-par day in terms of activity in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $5.5m with proceedings pretty evenly split between locals and foreigners. A cross in NSE kicked things off with the buyer being foreign while the seller was local as 1.7m shares changed hands in the name. EQBNK managed to close +0.6% higher on 855k shares. A late cross in EABL boosted activity in the brewer as 222k shares traded. Safcom was rather quiet as 3.8m shares traded in the telco ahead of results due out tomorrow.
Some chunky action in SBMH (+1.3%, Rs0.80) was the main focal point today while MCBG (unch, Rs214.00) was relatively lackluster.
A better day in Lagos, but still nothing to write home about as turnover amounted to a dull $10.2m with some action in ETI ($2.4m) and Zenith ($1.4m) the only names worth mentioning. Banks closed the day -0.03% lower thanks to weakness in Access (-3.04%). Consumers (-0.64%) were also softer as Unilever (-4.98%) and IntBrew (-4.69%) dragged the sector lower.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another unbelievably dull day in Harare.
