A better day in Gaborone as turnover amounted to $753k thanks solely to Letshego as 2.7m shares traded.
A much quieter day in Nairobi due to reduced foreign activity. The lion’s share of the action took place in the banks with Equity bank closing unchanged at KES41.00 while KNCB continued its losing streak by shedding 1.2% to KES39.75. EABL saw 2 crosses which saw the brewer close unchanged at KES280.00. Safcom continues to rise thanks to foreign buying as we saw the telco close up 60bps at KES16.15.
A much better day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.1m thanks mostly to MCBG as 113k shares changed hands in the name while SBMH (6.8m shares) was very quiet.
A vast improvement in terms of activity yet volumes still remain woefully thin. There were early crosses in Dangcem (unch, N162.00) and Wapco (unch, N90.00) while a late cross went through in Forte Oil (unch, N290.00). In normal trading we saw the banks close marginally in the red although outside of GTB (-71bps, N22.35) the sector was dull. Consumers fell by 1.28% on thin volumes.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Not much on the go in Harare with turnover amounting to $257k with small action in a few names.
