A very solid day to start the week in Gaborone from an activity point of view as turnover amounted to $2.5m thanks to action in Choppies (3m shares), Sefalana (728k shares) and FNBB (1m shares).
A very slow start to the week in Nairobi with total value traded amounting to $3.7m as foreigners were net sellers. Foreign demand continues to drive Safcom as the telco gained +0.6% on 8.6m shares. The two major banks enjoyed mixed fortunes as EQBNK fell -0.6% while KNCB gained +0.6%. The rest of the market was extremely dull.
The Mauritian bourse followed the rest of the African markets lower on small volumes as the lack of interest persists. The most active stock was Sun Resorts which fell by 1.4% to Rs34.00.
The market remains painfully dull as the index continues its fall southwards. The banks fell by 2.26% although activity in the sector was generally muted. Consumers also slipped by almost 2% thanks to weakness across the board. However, outside of NB (-4.17%, N115.00) the sector was also very quiet. The rest of the market was uneventful.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The Harare bourse continues to tumble on low activity.
