Some pleasing action today in Gaborone today thanks to some crosses in the likes of Sechaba (2900t), Letshego (298t) and BIHL (1505t).
Some reasonable action in Nairobi although foreign investors were quieter than they have been recently. The most active name was CFCB which saw a couple of crosses (local seller, mostly foreign buying) as the bank closed unchanged at KES86.00. In normal trading we saw decent buying in Equity Bank (+60bps, KES42.25) and Safcom (+2.7%, KES15.45) while KNCB fell by 1.8% to KES41.50.
A generally lethargic day in Mauritius ahead of tomorrow’s public holiday. The main action went through in MCBG (+20bps, Rs214.00).
Another pathetic day in Nigeria in the absence of the large crosses that sometimes punctuate the market. Banks fell by 1.15% although outside of Zenith bank (-4.01%, N16.99) and UBA (-1.62%, N3.64) the sector was quiet. Consumers fell by a further 1.36% today albeit on thin volumes.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some action in the Innscor spinoff Simbisa ($118k) the only name worth mentioning as the rest of the market was very dull.
