A much better day in Gaborone thanks to some action in Letshego (3m shares) and Sechaba (231k shares).
An exceptionally dull day in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $3.1m with activity pretty evenly split between locals and foreigners. A relatively late cross in EABL (foreign/ foreign) boosted activity in the brewer as 268k shares changed hands. Not much on the go (activity wise) in Safcom as 4.4m shares traded with the telco gaining +2.7% to close at 15.45. The two major banking stocks KNCB and EQBNK were very quiet as 1.1m shares and 811k shares changed hands in the names respectively. Centum fell -3% after releasing H1 2016 results.
Another shockingly quiet day in Lagos with a cross in Access ($2.2m) the only name worth mentioning as the rest of the market was dead quiet. Banks closed higher with the sector gaining +0.55% thanks to Access (+4.00%) and UBA (+3.02%). Consumers (+0.70%) also closed higher thanks to Flour Mills (+4.55%) and Dangote Flour (+4.76%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
An incredibly quiet day yet again in Harare.
