Market remains quiet.
Foreign selling pressure in large caps Safcom (-0.9%, KES17.05), Equity bank (-0.5%, KES48) and EABL (-2.7%, KES320) pulled the index into negative territory. The latter was the worst performing large cap counter to close at a two week low of KES320 as 785k shares were exchanged in the name. At the top of the losers list was Britam (-0.9%, KES20.25) on the back of media reports indicating that one of its directors is set to face fraud charges.
SBM emerged as the most active name in the session after trading an impressive 9.5m shares to close down 1.1% at Rs0.90. MCBG shed 0.4% to close at Rs197.75 on the back of 184k shares traded. Other counters on the index closed the session unchanged on small volumes.
Generally the market was very quiet. The banking index witnessed buying interest in the likes of UBA (+6.86%, N5.61), Access bank (+0.15%, N6.74) and FBNH (+0.96%, N10.54) to close up 0.93%. On the contrary, the consumer index shed 0.86% as most names registered small volumes. NB (-3.71%, N151.20) and Wapco (+2.27%, N92) were the most actively traded names in the sector.

Delta accounted for the bulk of activity today, contributing a total of $1m towards turnover. The counter traded a total of 1.8m shares at 106c which was its closing price. Other movers included Econet (unch, 49c) and Seedco (+1.05%, 9 7.01c) trading a total of 176k and 214k shares respectively.
