A big start to the week in Gaborone as consumer lender Letshego accounted for the bulk of activity. The counter traded a total of 10.6m shares to close unchanged at 260t.
The downward trend continued on the market. Large caps EABL, KCB and Safaricom were the most actively traded names as the counters accounted for 52.1% of activity. Foreign investors were net sellers in Safaricom with the stock closing down 1.2% at KES17.10 whilst EABL and KCB closed the session at KES320 (+0.3%) and KES63 (unch) respectively.
SBM accounted for 75.9% of total turnover. The counter gained 2.3% in the session to close at Rs0.90 after trading a mammoth 49.7m shares. MCBG closed the day unchanged at Rs198 on the back of 27k shares traded.
A dire start to the week as turnover amounted to a paltry $11m. The banking and Consumer indices closed soft, shedding 0.17% and 1.18% respectively. FBNH (-1.05%, N10.39), UBA (-4.14%), Diamond Bank (-3.20%, N4.54) and Sterling Bank (-4.66%, N2.25) were among the biggest losers in the banking names whilst consumer laggards included Nestle (-3.48%, N915), Intbrew (-0.97%, N21.49) and Guinness (-4.74%, N160.04). Noteworthy winners were GTB (+1.85%, N28.63), Wapco (+0.54%, N93.50) and NB (+0.66%, N152).

Thin trades were seen across the board. The most noticeable trades were recorded in CBZ (unch, 10c) and Econet (unch, 49c), trading a total of 720k and 107k shares respectively. Delta emerged as the sessions worst performer as the counter closed down by 0.94% at 105c after trading a total of 21k shares.
