Botswana: DCI +0.05% USD 6.3m

The BSE got resuscitated by a USD 5.86m trade in Sefalana today. A total of 6.07m shares traded at a price of 930t.It was first time in two years for the counter to trade at these volumes. The rest of the counters traded methodically.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.10%, USD 2.6m

The Nairobi market remains lifeless with a paltry $2.6m changing hands. Foreign participation remains on the low side. There is nothing major to report on for the day.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.27% 1.9m

Paralysis is taking over in Port Louis as indices continue to close in the red. MCBG took a downward turn after its impressive fight yesterday, to close at a 14 month low of Rs195, due to Foreign and local selling pressure. Foreigners accounted for 86% of the buying interest in PBL, which saw the counter close at a new record high of Rs242.50 (+3.2%).

Nigeria: ASI -2.40%, USD 24.6m

The Nigerian bourse fell further today although it was evident that some buyers returned to the market as the banks were in actual fact trading in the green at one stage. As it was, the banks ended the session down 3.54% with most of the activity taking place in the likes of ETI (-1.75%, N16.80), GTB (-5.69%, N20.71) and Zenith (-2.85%, N15.00). Consumers also slipped by a further 2.36% but again some buying returned to the sector. NB closed up 63bps to N140.70 while Guinness fell by 9.33% to N128.52. There was a large cross in DangCem (-2.61%, N167.00). The oil sector was once again actively traded in the likes of Oando (-7.06%, N15.01), Seplat (-5.43%, N300.00) and Forte Oil (-81bps, N230.00).

Zimbabwe: Industrials + 0.26% USD 1.56m

The Market traded slightly higher today, as Delta and Econet led the proceedings. Delta traded 167,117 shares to close at 104c, while the giant teleco traded 1,984,178 shares to close 0.02% lower at 60c. The noteworthy lagger of the day was OK Zim, the counter closed at 11.50c (-13.04%), with a total of 1,864 shares traded.
