Botswana continues to be a drought stricken market.
Activity continues to underwhelm in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $4.1m as foreigners dominated proceedings, but were net sellers. A few crosses in Safcom ($1.16m) drove proceedings as foreigners dominated both sides of the telco. There was some action in the usually illiquid Housing Finance ($869k) as locals drove purchases while foreigners drove sales. Foreigners were also dominant in EQBNK ($591k) while KNCB ($177k) was extremely quiet.
Turnover was buoyed by MCBG and SBM, as MCBG saw several crosses to close unchanged at Rs198 on the back of 57,820 shares traded. SMB saw noticeable volumes, trading a total of 2.4m shares to close flat at Rs1.00. The market continued its bear run as most of the indices closed in the red.
Another dull day in Lagos as turnover amounted to $16.1m. There was some action in the likes of GTB ($4.02m), Guinness ($2.45m), Zenith ($1.54m) and FBNH ($1.47m). Banks closed the day lower with the sector falling -0.28% as we saw things turn around late in the session thanks to Zenith (-2.29%) and Access (-1.96%). Consumers (-0.25%) also closed lower thanks to Dangote Flour (-4.61%) and Guinness (-1.14%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Subdued volumes continue to brood over the Harare market, as BAT was the only counter to contribute significantly towards turnover (400k). Econet and Innscor slid to 55c and 58c, on the back of 50,536 and 40,945 shares traded respectively. Ok Zim continues to attract demand, closing the day at 12c with a total of 89,948 shares traded.
