A better day in Nairobi but still nothing to write home about as turnover increased to $5.9m as locals continue to dominate proceedings. Safcom (-4.1%) came under pressure on the back of local selling with 14.4m shares changing hands in the telco. Foreigners drove both sides of EQBNK as the name fell -1.9% on 2.27m shares. A local cross drove activity in Mumias as 11.4m shares traded. Foreign demand drove EABL as the brewer gained +1.3%.
MCBG and SBM accounted for 86% of total market turnover. MCBG traded a total of 243.3k shares at a closing price of Rs198 and SBM stumbled down by 1.0% to close the day off at Rs1.00 after remaining firm at Rs1.01 for weeks. The counter exchanged a total of 23.3m shares, attracting 21% of foreign participation.
A better day in Lagos, but still below par as turnover increased to $21.8m thanks to crosses in Zenith ($3.36m), Stanbic ($2.94m), FBNH ($2.93m) and Flour Mills ($2.66m). Banks continue to rally with the sector gaining +2.16% thanks to GTB (+5.28%), UBA (+3.28%) and Zenith (+1.16%). Consumers (-0.64%) closed the day lower as Dangote Flour (-4.90%), Nestle (-2.87%) and Flour Mills (-1.89%) weighed down the sector. The Nigerian Central Bank left interest rates unchanged at 13%.

Innscor made up the lions share of turnover (USD 1.3m) today, as the counter saw a cross of 2,201,807 shares going through at 60c( closing price). The other significant contributor was Delta, whose turnover amounted to 184k on the back of 166,210 shares traded. The counter closed the day flat at 111c.
