Another quiet day in Gaborone
A much better day in Nairobi as turnover increased to $10.2m thanks to some foreign action in KNCB (+0.9%) as 3.76m shares traded in the name while locals continued to dominate total market activity. EQBNK (-0.9%) on the other hand closed lower on local investor selling as 2.31m shares traded. Local demand drove Safcom (+0.4%) higher today as 8.6m shares traded while foreign selling pressure pushed EABL -0.3% lower on 218k shares.
SBM, MCBG, PBL and SUN contributed 76% of total turnover. SBM traded 17,455,042 shares recouping 1c to close at Rs1.01, with the counter registering large foreign crosses throughout the trading session. MCBG remained firm to close at Rs197.00.
A very dull mid-week session as turnover amounted to $19.3m with a cross in Unilever ($5.26m) the highlight of the day. There was some activity in NB ($2.05m), DangCem ($1.90m), Zenith ($1.65m) and 7UP ($1.16m). Banks closed higher with the sector gaining +0.35% thanks to ETI (+2.11%) and GTB (+0.92%). Consumers (+0.15%) closed slightly higher with Dangote Flour (+3.81%), Unilever (+2.99%) and Guinness (+2.32%) driving the sector higher.

The market continued with its slump as majority of the counters registered meager trades. Delta traded 77,508 shares to close firm at 111c, while Econet, Natfoods and Ok Zim saw persistent demand to close at 50c, 330c and 14c respectively.
