Nothing to report.
A rather average day in terms of activity in Nairobi with Safcom (+0.6%) once again completely dominating proceedings as 17.5m shares traded in the telco. It was a mixed bag in the two major banking stocks with KNCB closing -0.9% lower while EQBNK gained +1.0%. Foreigners conitnue to dominate activity and accounted for 89% of turnover.
Another rather solid day on the activity front in Port Louis thanks to some action in market heavyweights MCBG and NMH as 93k shares and 743k shares changed hands in the names respectively. ENL Land and Rogers announced that they acquired a stake in NMH whereby their joint shareholdings now stood at 30.019% - ENL Land (10.662%) and Rogers (19.357%).
It was a better day in Lagos in terms of activity, but turnover remains well below historical norms. There was also a feeling of more activity in the market as there were a few crosses over the course of the day, instead of the usual one or two crosses that have been dominating proceedings of late. Most of the action was centered on Okomu ($2.8m) and NB ($1m). Banking stocks managed to close the day in positive territory with the sector gaining +0.39% on low volume. Consumers (-0.22%) closed the day lower with NB (-0.42%) being one of the major drags. Speaking at the World Economic Forum on Wednesday, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo Osinbajo said the government is in talks with the CBN to fully implement the “free-float” foreign exchange policy, but it cannot put a time on the “logical conclusion” of the talks.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
It was slow going in Harare today with nothing worth reporting.
