An absolutely dire day in Gaborone.
A very average start to the week in Nairobi with a decent cross in EABL (unch) driving proceedings as 1m shares changed hands in the brewer ahead of results due out on Friday. The usual market driver Safcom (+0.3%) was extremely quiet as 974k shares changed hands in the telco. EQBNK (-1.0%) came under some foreign selling pressure while KNCB was dead quiet.
A rather subdued start to the week in Port Louis, with MCBG once again the only name with any form of life as 47k shares changed hands.
A better start to the week than what we have become accustomed to of late in Lagos with a large cross in the usually illiquid Presco ($3.3m) driving proceedings, while activity in the usual market heavyweights was rather subdued. Banking stocks closed the day ever so slightly lower with the sector losing -0.03% thanks to losses in UBA (-0.39%) and Zenith (-0.31%). Consumers (+0.04%) closed slightly higher thanks mainly to Flour Mills (+0.33%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some action in Delta ($506k) the only name worth mentioning while activity in Econet remains non-existent after the cautionary with regards to the rights issue.
