Nothing to report from Gaborone.
A much better day in Nairobi as turnover increased +321% to $8.3m as foreigners turned net buyers to the tune of $5.5m. Foreign demand drove activity in KNCB as and EQBNK as 11.3m shares and 878k shares traded in the names respectively. Some decent action in the usually illiquid Jubilee (foreign buyer/ local seller) helped boost activity as 250k shares traded. A better day in Safcom as the telco managed to gain +2.9% on foreign purchases as 7.2m shares changed hands.
Another strong day in Port Louis although volumes remain light. MCBG rose by 1% to Rs208.25 while SBMH closed up 3% at Rs0.68 albeit on small volumes. NMH gained 3.5% to Rs23.80, although the company did issue a cautionary after the close stating that it had not been approached by an international suitor.
A better day in Lagos, but still nothing to write home about with some crosses in the likes of GTB ($2.4m), Zenith ($2.2m), UBA ($1.6m) and NB ($1.4m) boosting activity. Banking stocks were mixed today, but the sector did close the day lower with the Index falling -0.72% as GTB (-2.38%) and Zenith (-0.58%) were drags on the sector. Consumers (-0.34%) also closed the day lower thanks to GSK (-4.99%) and 7UP (-4.94%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The ZSE continues its’ freefall as the market continues to go one way. Volumes remain embarrassingly low although there was some mild action in Delta (53c) today.
