Nothing to report from Gaborone as activity completely slowed down on the first trading day of the week.
An absolutely dire start to the week in Nairobi with turnover amouting to a paltry $2.1m while foreigners remained net buyers of what little activity there was. There was some small activity in EQBNK and Bamburi Cement as 1.3m shares and 278k shares traded in the names respectively while the rest of the market was dead quiet.
A late rally in DangCem($1.2m) helped lift the market as the heavyweight closed +7.80% higher. Elsewhere there was some activity in in Zenith (+1.8m) and Stanbic ($1.4m) while the rest of the market was very quiet. Banks managed to close the day slightly higher with the sector gaining +0.08% thanks to GTB (+1.56%). Consumers (-0.01) closed ever so slightly lower with weakness in Guinness (-2.32%) and Cadbury (-1.39%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
There was finally some light at the end of the tunnel from an activity point of view in Harare with turnover amounting to a very impressive $7.4m. Activity was heavily skewed towards Econet ($6.07m) as 24.3m shares traded in the name while Delta ($1.27m) was also very active with 2.4m shares changing hands.
