Activity continue to impress in Gaborone with some solid activity in Letshego (5m shares), Sefalana (302k shares) and FNBB (781k shares).
A better day in Nairobi but still nothing to write home about with turnover pretty evenly split between locals and foreigners. Safcom was the most active name on the day as foreigners drove the telco -0.6% lower on 9m shares. EABL managed to close the day +0.7% higher on fairly low volume of 352k shares. Both major banking stocks closed the day lower with KNCB and EQBNK both closing -0.6% lower.
Another solid day from an activity point of view in Port Louis thanks largely to MCBG as 107k shares traded in the name. There was some heavy selling in NMH with the hotelier falling -7.2% on 105k shares. Monthly tourist arrivals for January 2016 increased an impressive +14.4% from a year earlier.
A better day in Lagos thanks to some solid crosses in the likes of GTB ($5.2m), NB ($3.7m), Zenith ($1.9m) and DangCem ($1.2m). DangCem also had a very solid day as the market heavyweight managed to close +6.63% higher. Banks closed slightly higher with the sector gaining +0.09% thanks to UBA (+3.16%) and Access (+2.88%). Consumer closed +0.23% higher thanks to NB (+1.02%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing overly exciting to report on from the Harare bourse. There was some action in Econet (22.01c) on a generally dull day.
