Not much on the go in Gaborone after yesterday's holiday as turnover amounted to $123k.
An incredibly dull day with action on both the buy and the sell side almost exactly 50/50 between local and foreign participants. On quiet days like this the general trend is down as apathy extends throughout the market. The most active names were KNCB (unch, KES 54.00) and Centum (-2.3%, KES 63.50). There was only mild action in EABL (-2.7%, KES 290.00) and Safcom (-0.30%, KES16.45).
Things slowed down quite drastically today as turnover fell to $570k with MCBG (23k shares) and SBMH (4m shares) very quiet.
A woeful day in Lagos as the needle barely moved throughout the entire session. On days like this the general trend is soft and today was no different as a total lack of interest permeated in the majority of names. Banks closed down 27bps with activity yet again centered on Zenith (+125bps, N19.45), GTB (unch, N26.95) and Access (-240bps, N5.29). Consumers were harder hit as they shed -129bps although the sector was eerily quiet in the absence of any significant crosses.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another decent day in Harare as turnover increased to $1.84m thanks to some activity in Econet ($636k), Innscor ($607k) and Delta ($245k) while the market continues to slide as the Industrial Index fell -0.46%.
