A much better day in Gaborone in terms of activity as value traded amounted to $2.9m thanks to a cross in Letshego as 7.8m shares traded in the counter while the rest of the market was rather quiet.
An incredibly quiet day in Nairobi. The major action took place in KNCB (over 70% of total turnover) after the banking giant announced 2015 H1 results. Despite a solid rise in profits the bank still shed 1.9% to KES50.50. Outside of this name there was nothing of note to write home about although EABL closed down 1.4% (albeit on small volumes) ahead of tomorrow’s results announcement.
A dull day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $830k with a small bit of activity in MCBG (31k shares) and SBMH (3.7m shares) while NMH remains rather quiet as 57k shares traded in the hotelier.
Another day that felt remarkably like Groundhog Day. The ASI (-25bps) continues to fall while activity remains muted with just the odd cross. Today the main crossing was in NB ($13m). Banks fell by a further 75bps for the day with the only real volume going through in GTB (-1.65%, N23.80). The consumers closed down 35bps with chunky activity in NB (-82bps, N121.00) and Nestle (unch, N850.02). H1 results season continues in full swing and today we saw releases in the likes of Skye Bank, Nestle, 7UP, Ashaka Cement and ETI.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another solid enough day in Harare as turnover amounted to $1.12m thanks to some action in Delta ($799k) and Innscor ($203k) while the market finally managed to close higher with the Industrial Index gaining +0.40%.
