An absolutely woeful day in Nairobi as the market never even got out of first gear. On days like this we often see the market just drip lower and today was no exception as apathy permeated throughout the market. Safcom was the most active name and closed marginally higher at KES15.55 while KNCB and EABL were also pretty solid at KES55.50 and KES289 respectively.
Another decent day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.7m thanks to a large cross in LUX (599k shares) while 55k shares and 3.2m shares traded in MCBG and SBMH respectively.
A rater quiet day in Nigeria in the absence of any large crosses. Banks shed 1.33% today continuing their downward trend. Early on in the day we saw a foreign cross in UBA (-1.15%, N4.30) while later on there was some action in GTB (-94bps, N25.26). There was also a decent cross in Wapco (-50bps, N99.50). The consumers (+60bps) finally found some positive momentum although volumes were quiet so nothing overly exciting to write home about.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Activity dropped off today with total value traded amounting to $380k with some small activity in Innscor ($186k) and Delta ($113k).
