Movers & Shakers: July 24, 2015


Botswana: DCI +0.08%, USD 82k

Aboslutely nothing to report from Gaborone as turnover amounted to a paltry $82k.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.86%, USD 4.7m

Safcom was the most active counter on a very quiet day as a total of 17.5m shares traded in the telco with foreigners dominating both sides. The market closed early today as a result of President Obama's visit. The two major banking stocks came under pressure with EBQNK falling -1.2% while KNCB fell -0.9%. Not much on the go in EABL as 86k shares traded in the brewer.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.01%, USD 770k

Another slow day to end the week with turnover amounting to $770k SBMH (12.8m shares), LUX (93k shares) and MCBG (23k shares) the only names with some decent activity.

Nigeria: ASI -0.40%, USD 8.9m

A dull day to end the week as turnover amounted to $8.9m with GTB ($1.86m), NB ($1.61m) and Zenith ($1.14m) the only names worth mentioning. Banks ended the day lower with the sector falling -0.38% thanks to UBA (-1.63%), FBNH (-1.41%) and Zenith (-1.24%). Consumers (-1.02%) were also weaker as PZ Cussons (-3.33%), Flour Mills (-2.98%) and NB (-1.56%) dragged the sector lower. The Central Bank kept the bencmark rate at 13.00%.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.01%, USD 303k

Econet ($209k) was the only name worth mentioing as total turnover amounted to $303k while the reset of the market was extremely quiet.
