Nothing on the go in Gaborone as turnover amounted to a dire $62k.
Another massive cross in EQBNK (ca. 39m shares @ KES 47.50) with the seller being foreign (Helios) while the buyer was local as a total of 45.13m shares traded in the name. Elsewhere there was some action in Safcom (-0.3% )as foreigners dominated both sides of the telco with 22.82m shares changing hands. A local cross in Centum boosted actvity in the name as 4.5m shares traded while activity in KNCB picked up with 2.61m shares traded on the day.
A lot of green across the screens in Port Louis as the main index rose by 17bps. This was led by MCBG (+20bps, Rs211.50), NMH (+1.8%, Rs19.50) and Terra (+1.0%, Rs31.50) while SBMH closed unchanged at Rs0.87.
The Nigerian market showed some decent signs of life today although a large chunk of this ($21m) was a bookover in Zenith. Market sentiment still remains weak with both the Banks (-1.08%) and the Consumers (-1.70%) closing in the red. Outside of the large Zenith (-1.82%, N17.80) the banks were extremely quiet with most names losing ground during the session. Consumers were dragged lower by NB (-3.67%, N128.60) after the brewer announced poor H1 results earlier in the day. There was also chunky action in the likes of Wapco (-1.96%, N100.00), UACN (unch, N41.00) and Forte Oil (+9.37%, N196.87).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A very dull day in Harare although the index did inch marginally higher.
