A better day in Nairobi in terms of activity as turnover amounted to $8.0m with foreigners accounting for 78% of total value traded. A few large foreign crosses in EQBNK (-1.2%) dominated proceedings as a total of 9.07m shares traded. KNCB (-0.9%) was also rather active as 2.41m shares traded over the day. Foreign demand failed to drive safcom higher as the telco closed unchanged on 6.4m shares. Activity remains muted in EABL as only 68k shares traded.
Another strong day in Port Louis although volumes still remain muted. Most of the Sem-7 were strong, led higher by MCBG (+1.6%, Rs222.50) and SBMH (+1.1%, Rs0.89). NMH also had a good day rising by 2.2% to Rs19.00.
The highlight of the day was an off-market cross of 166m Oando done at N16.50 with the buyer being Brownrock Limited while the seller was Ocean and Oil Development Partners. Elsewhere, the market was extremely dull yet again with tunover amounting to $10.8m with Access ($3.33m) and Zenith ($2.68m) the only names worth mentioning. Banks continue to struggle with the sector falling -1.73% as Zenith (-2.83%), GTB (-1.52%) and FBNH (-1.31%) were drags on the sector. Consumers (-0.28%) were also softer as GSK (-3.45%), Flour Mills (-3.41%) and Guinness (-2.05%) were very weak.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The Zimbabwean bourse still lacks direction while turnover remains muted. Today there was some action in OKZim (8.2c), Innscor (62c) and Econet (34c).
