A solid day thanks to a cross of 1.6m Choppies as turnover amounted to $997k.
A much quieter day in Nairobi although foreigners were still fairly active. As usual the bulk of today’s action took place in the bigger names, most specifically KNCB (unch, KES54.00), Safcom (-2.9%, KES15.25) and EqBnk (-4.2%, KES45.25). There was also some action in names like BATK (-10bps, KES803.00) and CFCB (+7.5%, KES115.00).
Nothing much to report from Port Louis as turnover amounted to $550k as MCBG (40k shares) and SBMH (5.6m shares) were the most active on the day.
The ASI finally found some positive ground albeit without showing much conviction. Banks did gain an impressive 1.90% with ETI (+8.16%, N22.00) leading the way. Most of the activity took place in GTB (+1.72%, N26.00). Consumers closed the day down 46bps although the sector was exceedingly dull. The lion’s share of today’s volumes went through in Wapco (unch, N100.00).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A better day in Harare but still nothing exciting as turnover amounted to $323k with small action in Seedco ($112k) and Econet ($106k).
