Another dull day in Gaborone with turnover amounting to $182k as Engen accounted for 63% of activity.
An extremely slow day to end the week in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $2.3m with foreigners strangely enough dominating proceedings (68.5%). EQBNK ($1.47m) dominated what little activity there was thanks to a foreign cross while the other market heavyweights were very quiet.
Port Louis followed the rest of the markets with an eerily quiet day. The market was generally soft across the board.
Another dire day in terms of activity thanks to the holiday in the U.S with turnover amounting to a paltry $7.7m with a cross in Zenith ($1.53m) the only name worth mentioning and the only counter to break the $1m in turnover mark. Banks closed the day lower with the sector falling -0.56% thanks to losses in UBA (-2.23%) and ETI (-1.14%). Consumers (-0.19%) also closed lower thanks to Dangote Flour (-4.74%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Today the ZSE officially became an automated trading system (as per earlier email). However, this did not help the ZSE as volumes remain low and sentiment remains dire.
