Another solid day in Gaborone thanks once again to some local action as there were crosses in FNBB (2.33m shares), Sechaba (195k shares), Letshego (1.18m shares), Stanchart (282k shares) and BIHL (152k shares).
Another relatively muted day in Kenya outside of some action in Equity Bank with most names generally soft. The only large cap name that did rise was Safcom which gained a further 30bps to KES 15.00. The other large caps had a torrid day as some aggressive foreign selling pushed them lower – Equity Bank fell by 2.2% to KES 43.50, KNCB fell by 2.3% to KES 42.25 and Co-Op fell to KES 16.65 (-2.6%).
Things slowed down in Port Louis today but activity was still rather impressive with MCBG once again dominating proceedings as 235k shares traded in the name. Not much on the go in SBMH as only 9.4m shares traded.
There really is nothing much we can say about Lagos as the market remains painfully lethargic. Banks closed up 62bps although outside of Zenith Bank (unch, N16.80) the sector was really quiet. Consumers fell by 63bps although outside of a late bookover in NB (-1.09%, N136.50) the sector was also extremely dull.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing much once again to report from Harare as activity continues to underwhelm.
