Nothing overly exciting to report.
Activity levels bumped up nicely in Nairobi today, mostly thanks to an early cross in Safcom (unch, KES23.00). The telco accounted for approximately half of the total market turnover. Elsewhere, we saw a couple of decent trades in the likes of EABL (-1.20%, KES246.00) and EqBnk (+1.35%, KES37.50).
MCBG went ex-div today, and despite being marked down to the ex-div price of Rs265.75 the stock eventually closed unchanged at Rs270.00. As usual, the stock also accounted for the lion’s share of trading activities with only SBMH (+1.9%, Rs7.58) seeing an decent action.
Another day with not much activity and feels like the dark days of early 2017. The index did tick higher with both Banks (+2.02%) and Consumers (+22bps) closing in the green. Amongst the banks, the major trading took place in Zenith Bank (+3.33%, N22.02) and UBA (+1.01%, N9.01). Consumers were extremely quiet.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The recent bull run feels like its been running out of steam for a few sessions now and today we saw the index finally dip into negative territory. Activity was dominated by Delta (127.25c).
