There was finally some form of life in Gaborone thanks to a massive cross in NAP (142m shares) and smalls in BIHL (1.3m shares).
It was a very quiet day in Nairobi with the most active stock in the market being Safcom which closed at KES23.00 (unchanged) with $2.9m changing hands in the name. The rest of the counters were rather inconspicuous.
Not a bad day in Port Loius today with SBMH (unch, Rs7.60) and MCB (unch, Rs279.00) taking up more than half the market. In other news Air Mauritius (+1.4%, 7k) ended on a YTD high of Rs15.00 and NMH (Rs21.90) was the only mover in the hotel sector down by 0.7%.
Once again the Banks (+1.07%) led the way, both in terms of volumes and market direction, consumers were unchanged as the sector was incredibly quiet. The leading lights in the banks were Zenith (+2.09%, N21.98) and Guaranty Trust Bank (+0.82%, N36.90). There were also a few other crosses in Guinness (+4.92%, N66.10) and NB (+0.89%, N160.00).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The market chipped higher today with local participation leading the way in Harare. Axia (12c) was fairly active although Delta (127.25c) dominated turnover while the rest of the market was extremely quiet.
