A woeful day on the bourse today, nothing worth reporting on in Gaborone.
Busy day in Kenya as turnover tripled to USD 12.0m, with Safaricom (+1.1%) accounting for 34% of turnover. Foreign participation dropped to 57% from 69%. EABL (+2.6%) exchanged 460k shares at an average of Kes 262.00.
It was a rather average day in Mauritius with volumes yet again being dominated by banking behemoths MCB and SBM. MCB was down -0.4% at Rs274, while SBM edged up 1.5% at Rs7.90.
Another decent day of trading in Lagos as crosses in UBA ($6.0m), Zenith ($3.3m), Dangcem ($2.3m) and Access ($1.5m) drove proceedings. The Banking index closed +2.62% thanks to UBA (+10.16), Zenith (+3.23%) and Access (+1.59%). Consumers closed +0.12% and the Industrials (+2.94%) on the back of Dangcem (+4.90%)
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The index once again had a slight negative day although volumes were extremely impressive – locals heavily dominant yet again. Volumes were headlined by Delta (127.25c) with more than a half of the market and Zimre Property Investments (0.0135c) a third of the bourse.
