Nothing much to report from Gaborone.
The major talking point in Nairobi today was a mammoth 104m share cross in BRIT right at the close. The $16m deal was a local-local cross. In normal trading, the most active name was yet again Safcom which closed unchanged for the second straight day at KES23.00. There was also some chunky crossing in Scan (+1.20%, KES21.00) while the rest of the market remains quiet.
A rather low volume day in Port Louis although MCBG (+1.5%, Rs274.00) continues along its merry way. The banking giant also once again accounted for the bulk of the market turnover.
Another quiet session on the bourse. Both Banks (+1.34%) and Consumers (+46bps) did inch their way higher though. Volumes were dominated by the Banks with all of Zenith Bank (unch, N22.02), UBA (-22bps, N8.99), Access (+1.53%, N9.95) and GTB (+1.94%, N36.20) all breaking the psychological $1m barrier. Consumers were extremely quiet yet again.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The index once again had a slight negative day although volumes were extremely impressive – locals heavily dominant yet again. Volumes were headlined by Econet (36.55c) and Old Mutual ($3.93).
