A very solid day in Gaborone considering how quiet the rest of Africa was. This was thanks to some action in Letshego as 8m shares changed hands in the name.
A better day in Nairobi but still nothing to write home about as activity was pretty evenly split between locals and foreigners. KNCB (-0.6%) closed the day slightly lower on foreign selling as 1.9m shares traded. Safcom (-0.3%) also closed lower on foreign selling as 4.3m shares traded in the telco while EABL closed the day unchanged at KES 268.
Nothing much to report from Port Louis unfortunately with 20k shares changing hands in MCBG the only name worth mentioning.
From bad to worse in Lagos as activity amounted to a paltry $5.5m with Zenith ($1.1m) the only name breaking the $1m mark. DangCem (+4.99%) closed the day stronger after releasing FY 2015 numbers, which the market seemingly liked. Banking stocks closed in positive territory with the sector gaining +1.10% thanks to ETI (+4.96%) and UBA (+3.47%). Consumers (+0.24%) also managed to close higher thanks to PZ Cussons (+4.98%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another slow day in Harare with some tiny activity in Innscor ($56k) and Delta ($53k).
