A better day in Gaborone but still nothing to write home about with turnover amounting to a dull $162k.
A rather solid day from an activity point of view in Nairobi with Safcom driving proceedings thanks to a few crosses as 22.2m shares traded with the telco closing +0.6% higher. Both major banking stocks closed the day unchanged as 3.4m shares traded in KNCB while 1.7m shares changed hands in EQBNK. There was a decent cross in EABL as the brewer closed the day flat on 492k shares.
Not much to report from Port Louis as MCBG drove proceedings yet again with 81k shares traded on the day while the rest of the market was quiet.
A few crosses in the likes of Zenith ($1.9m), DangCem ($1.9m) and GTB drove proceedings on another rather dull. There was another off-market cross, but this time in the form of Wema Bank as 6.6bn shares changed hands at N0.90 ($29.8m). Banks continue to struggle as the sector fell -1.27% thanks to Access (-8.20%) after the bank released FY 2015 numbers while FBNH (-4.63%) also came under pressure. Consumers (+1.10%) were led higher by NB as the brewer gained +4.11%.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A pathetic day in Harare.
