Not much on the go in Gaborone with some small activity in NAP (372k shares) the only name worth mentioning.
Nothing much to report from Nairobi after the long weekend with activity pretty evenly split between locals and foreigners. The only positive to note is that foreigners turned net buyers to the tune of $1.3m after being net sellers for the last three weeks. The usually illiquid KenolKobil was the most active stock and one of the the day's top gainers as the name gained +6.5% on 8m shares. The market heavyweights were very quiet with not much on the go in Safcom (5.4m shares), EQBNK (1.6m shares), KNCB (713k shares) and EABL (74k shares).
A massive cross in Alteo (-60bps, Rs26.65) was the talk of the town as 1 cross of 3m shares accounted for more than 82% of the day’s turnover. The rest of the market was rather dull.
A very sluggish start to the trading week in Lagos after the Easter break with some activity in GTB ($2.5m) the only name breaking the $1m mark. Banking stocks continue to struggle as the sector fell -0.81% with weakness in FBNH (-4.80%) and Zenith (-1.22%) while we did see some strength in UBA (+4.76%). Consumers also struggled as the sector closed -1.99% on tiny volumes with no real activity worth mentioning.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A quiet start to a short week in Harare with most names eerily quiet.
