Nothing to report from Gaborone.
Another very average day from an activity point of view in Nairobi as foreigners were net buyers to the tune of $2.8m for the third session in a row. Foreign demand drove Safcom higher as the telco gained +1.2% on 6.7m shares. The two major banking stocks ended the day mixed with KNCB closing unchanged while EQBNK gained +1.3%. There was some action in the usually illiquid KenolKobil and ARM as 9.5m shares and 2.2m shares changed hands in the names respectively.
A couple of crosses in MCBG (+50bps, Rs205.75) was about the only action that took place today in Port Louis.
Another rather dull day on the last trading day of the first quarter of 2016 with crosses in WAPCO ($3m) and GTB ($2.2m) the only names brreaking the $1m mark while the rest of the market was very quiet. Another bad day for banking stocks as the sector fell -0.83% thanks to weakness in UBA (-2.79%) and Zenith (-1.92%) while FBNH (+5.00%) bucked the trend and closed higher. Consumers (+0.25%) managed to close in positive territory thanks to IntBrew (+7.84%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some action in Delta (56.25c) and Seedco (64c) about the only action on yet another quiet day in Harare.
